Pretty Paper Roll Pillow Boxes

You may notice I’m a little obsessed with paper roll crafts. I’ve done quite a few here previously.

A couple of years ago I made some really cute pillow box bats for Halloween on my own blog and noticed that a few people who had pinned them on Pinterest made comments about making them with paper rolls. Genius! So I thought I’d take this idea of making pillow boxes with paper rolls and run with it.

DIY Pretty Paper Roll Pillow Boxes

These pretty paper roll pillow boxes are very easy to make and are perfect for every occasion and holiday for gifting small items such as wedding favors, classroom gifts, jewelry and other small trinkets.

Here’s what you need:

  • Paper rolls
  • Pretty scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Twine

how to make pillow boxes

Step 1:

Cut your piece of paper so that it’s large enough to go around the paper roll. I don’t recommend cutting it exactly to size because I always find that there’s too much pressure to roll it perfectly and let’s face it, it doesn’t often happen that way, so I leave a little hanging over the edge.

Apply a generous coat of Mod Podge to the back side of the paper and place your paper roll on top.

Step 2:

Roll up your paper roll making sure it’s completely covered in paper. Seal the end closed with a little extra Mod Podge and trim away the excess paper from the edges.

Step 3:

Starting with the side that has the seam from attaching the paper, fold the end of the box toward the center. The fold the opposite side so it overlaps a little.

Repeat on the opposite side of the roll.

Step 4:

Open up one side of the pillow box, pop in your gift, close it up and wrap some twine around your pretty package.
