August’s meal plans are a bit more…organized. I had been doing weekly meal plans since we have made some big adjustments to how and who does cooking, but now we’re back to do a 4 week menu that we can repeat, though it will likely take a big shift when school starts next month (!!!!). By the way how is it August already??? When did that happen? In any case, it’s time to get cooking.
Ready to start meal planning, but don’t know where to start?
You can read the 5 easy steps we use to create our meal plan and then download the printable 2015 Menu Plan to get started and save $1,000s each year!
August Meal Plan: Week One
Monday: Burgers
Burgers are always a favorite meal for the whole family. We make them simple (a little salt, a little garlic, and cook them up) and everyone gets to top them their own way. Served with a huge side salad and some fresh fruit they make the perfect summer meal.
Tuesday: Paninis
Paninis are a great dinner option because they’re easy to make, and they can be customized for everyone. Served with a side salad and some homemade fries they’re a great, hearty dinner after a lot of summertime play.
Wednesday: Pistachio-crusted Salmon
This recipe from Nom Nom Paleo is delicious. A combination of a few of our favorite things into one easy to make dish? Yes, please.
Thursday: Brinner
Waffles and bacon. Fruit smoothies on the side. These blueberry smoothies are delicious and so simple.
Friday: Pizza
Making gluten-free and dairy-free pizza is a challenge, but we’ve been doing pretty well with it! I’ll be sure to share my latest version soon, but in the meantime you can always try our Whalen Family pizza dough recipe if you’re not gluten-free or as a basis for your own recipe.
Saturday: Clean Out The Fridge Night
We’ll work on cleaning out the fridge of all the leftovers and foods that need to be eaten up before they go bad. It’s a great way to reduce waste. Read about how we reduce food waste at home here.
Sunday: Greek Yogurt Chicken Kabobs
These Greek yogurt chicken kabobs are a lot of work, but all the kids LOVE them. I do, too. The tangy yogurt makes these so good. (As a side note I don’t seem to react to Greek yogurt, and have heard from other folks that have lactose intolerance or dairy issues that they have found similar things.) I’ll share the recipe soon, but essentially you marinate in a few spices and the yogurt, cook them, and then devour their deliciousness.
What’s on your menu this week?
