Valentine’s Day is upon us all of the sudden it seems. I’m not sure how it came about quite so quickly. I’m sure the last time I looked at a calendar it was still January. And yet, now I have just a couple of days to whip up Valentine’s for two of my three children to hand out during their classroom Valentine’s Day party.
So this is what one of the kids will be handing out.
To make these lollipop owls you will need:
- Sweethearts Lollipops (if you want the cute messages that is, otherwise, regular lollipops are just fine)
- White card stock
- Scrap paper - any color and pattern
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue
- Sewing machine
Trim the plastic around the lollipop just a little bit. Lay the lollipop on the sheet of card stock and hand sketch an owl shape around it. Note: you need to make sure that you make the bottom wide enough that you’ll be able to put a lollipop inside the sleeve once it’s finished. You can use this first one as your template to make all of the others. You will need two owls per lollipop.
Now, go ahead and sacrifice one lollipop for the sake of the craft. Remove it from the wrapper and place it on one of the owl pieces. Trace around it and using an X-ACTO knife cut it out. Again, you can use the heart you cut out as your template for all of your other lollipop sleeves.
Place the two owl pieces together and stitch around it fairly close to the edge. Carefully place the lollipop inside the owl.
Using hot glue attach the googly eyes and a small paper beak.
Grab your pile of scrap paper. I have a tub that I keep in my craft room of all the odds and ends from various projects. They always come in handy for something eventually.
Cut an oval shape out of a scrap of paper, you’ll use this as a template to cut out wings for each of your owls. Trace and cut out two wings per owl. Fold the oval paper in half and using hot glue attach it to the owl by wrapping a wing around each side.
If you want you can add a little further detail. I used a silver Sharpie to add a little detail around the top of the owl.
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day surrounded by those you love.

Tonya, I love your crafts. They’re always so professional, yet doable-never intimidating. Great job once again!
