I know I’m a few days late, but better late than never right?
Last year I wrote a post about what I wanted to do in 2010. I talked about how 2010 was going to rock, and it did!
But not because I met my goals. I failed miserably at cooking at home every day. I didn’t read close to 52 books-I only read about 20. I did clean up my diet, and went gluten free, and start exercising more (though the last few months I fell off the exercise wagon). The kids and my marriage did come first this year. My husband and I instituted weekly at home date nights, and I made sure that spending time with the kids came first as often as possible. It wasn’t perfect balance, but it was as close as I could get.
My financial goals which seemed realistic based on the numbers were changed and scaled back as our priorities shifted. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make our debt disappear, but even with earning an income from my blog there have been lots of unexpected expenses, and unexpected monthly expenses we’ve had to add this year. Our overall debt decreased, and our net worth increased, so that means we are definitely heading in the right direction, but it’s at a snail’s pace it seems at times.
What was lacking or lost was made up for with some of the amazing lifelong friendships (I hope!) I formed this year, the birth of a new business, the unwavering support of my amazing husband, the support and help of my awesome parents and sister, and the growth of my kids from little ones into big kids. (suddenly going anywhere with 4 kids became easier)
Overall 2010 was a pretty dang good year, and I’m looking forward to 2011. I’ll have some big changes to share with you soon-stay tuned!

You achieved what was really important to you. Isn’t that good? This is true with all goals, you accomplish what you want to do.

My goal is to cook from home a lot more, but I think its going to be hard… we’ll see how that ends up in a few months time.
