Another week down, and more not so pretty numbers. <sigh> We may have to do a repeat next month. I think we can do much better, July is a hard month to do this in for us! Total spent through 7/7: $332.37 (returned $30 camping lantern) Total spent this week 7/8-7/15: $221.94 Total left for month of July: $195.69 What we spent on this week: Groceries: $143.85 Cash: $70
- $19 camping site fee
- $16 misc.
- $20 eating out (business lunches for the hubby)
- $15 work-related
Medicine: $11.59 Normally this would be covered by our HSA card, but we are having “issues” right now, so I will submit this and get reimbursed. Eating Out: $26.50 I call this the I-barely-slept-while-camping and I can’t fathom cooking mistake. We also received a small windfall of $100. I polled my followers on twitter about it, and had several different ideas. (pay off debt, save it, spend 1/2-save 1/2, etc.) We ended up using $50 for family fun and saved the other half. Mostly it was spent on junk food. 🙂 Grocery expenses were high since I had to buy camping friendly food. This being our first time camping, I realize I could have been more frugal now, but at the time my options for shopping and time for planning the meals was limited. We’re sticking to the budget though, and we’ll start to get creative with groceries to find ways to make them last longer. I’m envisioning lots of popcorn for snacks, and homemade stuff for breakfast. My plan is to stay close to home as much as possible, and walk if I can. To keep us in check I’m withdrawing the week’s money in cash. I’m hoping it will make us be more frugal. Kelly
