Summer is coming, but hot temperatures are already here. So, it’s time to bust out your summer shorts (after a quick shave of course). Several friends have been discussing where to buy cute, but modest-ish shorts. Most stores have a variety of short shorts, but if you aren’t entirely petite and thin these end up looking a little too short shorts for most of us.
Finding the right fit for your body type can be challenging, but there are a few stores most women seem to agree on.
Personally, I’m on the taller side, have a long torso, and prefer a higher waist (due to my long torso). I don’t wear tall sizes in pants or shorts, though I have heard from some similarly tall friends that it’s helpful to have tall sizes when you have long legs.
Ann Taylor:
Their selections go from casual to dressy options and include a range of fits and sizes. They’re classic, cute, and a little fun. Prices vary but tend to be closer to the $50 range.
Land’s End
I’m a big fan of Land’s End shorts. They are on the more classic side with some preppy thrown in for good measure. I love that they offer a variety of lengths, colors, and styles. They have a great plus size section, petites, and tall sizes as well. Prices vary but look for great sale prices or their overstock items.
Lee Jeans:
Lee sent me two pair of shorts to try out. It happened to be just in time for our jaunt to Disney World where temperatures were significantly hotter than home, so I was thrilled to wear them! I checked their sizing charts online and found them to be correct. I ordered in the suggested size and they fit perfectly! I love when that happen. Lee shorts are in the $30-$50 range, but sales often bring them to the lower end of that spectrum.
I chose two pairs of shorts. The Natural Fit Corsica in gingham is featured below.
The other pair are modern Jayden jean shorts in natural fit as well. I love that they are on the longer side. As I shared above I have a long torso and am on the taller side, so longer shorts work really well for me. I chose these in a dark wash so they could be dressed up (well as much as you can dress up jean shorts anyway!) or be more casual. I preferred them rolled at the bottom.
After such a long winter I’m excited to be wearing shorts again! Where did you get your favorite shorts?
