Do you have plans for Valentine’s Day? We don’t always celebrate, but this year I think we’re going to head out to dinner, and since my recent weight loss I’m thinking of splurging on a new dress.
If you and your sweetheart are planning on celebrating this Valentine’s Day I’ve got some great finds for you. Let’s vow to get out of the sweatpants, the mom jeans, and ponytail (guilty) and instead get dressed up.
I put together some picks for Valentine’s Day that are a bit outside our normal frugal range. Occasionally, it’s worthwhile to splurge on classic pieces that you will wear again and again. Having the excuse of Valentine’s Day can be a great reason to splurge. Below you’ll find our picks for fun, sexy and feminine choices to make you feel beautiful on Valentine’s Day.
Sexy Black Dress
Every women needs a basic black dress, and this Wyatt dress via BlueFly is a perfect choice. The slit up the leg gives this a sexy look without being over the top. At $89 you’re sure to get use after use out of this sleek dress.
Red Hot Dress
Red is a great color for the holiday, and this classic style dress is perfect for most body types. The color is great, too-not too bold and it will go with almost any skin tone. This dress is also perfect for winter, especially if you live on the East Coast. 100% cashmere I imagine it feels like wearing a comfortable sweater, but you’ll look chic while doing it. At $199 it’s a bit on the pricier side, but worth the splurge!
Ruched Dress
This ruched dress is stylish and will show off your arms and calves. It’s a great fit for anyone who wants to feel sleek and sexy without being so form-fitting it makes you self-conscious. The ruching is great for hiding a post-baby tummy or baby bump. It comes in black and red.
Lovely Lace Dress
Red lace is a simple yet sexy Valentine’s Day option. This red dress is a gorgeous pick, and the lace adds a gorgeous feminine touch. At just over $100 it’s definitely a splurge, but it’s worth it.
Simple Frugal Dress
This classic black dress is comfortable and easy to wear and at under $40 it’s a great bargain! Dress it up or down depending on where you’re going. You could add a statement necklace and strappy heels for a dressed up look or pair it with arm candy, flats, and a cozy cardigan for a dressed down look.
Beach Chic Dress
Looking for something a little more beachy or boho? If you live somewhere where it’s warm this is an especially good choice (and we promise not to hate you too much!). This strapless dress is perfect for showing off your shoulders, but covers a lot of problem areas like your tummy and hips. The best part? It has pockets! I think all dresses should have pockets, don’t you?
Floral Jumpsuit
This one is very different, and for the woman who loves feminine style. It’s also a jumpsuit! I’m not 100% sold on jumpsuits, but on the right person this would be amazing! It’s feminine, comfortable, and chic all at once. At $148 it’s definitely a splurge.
What if an expensive celebration is not in the budget?
While it’s fun to look at gorgeous clothes and celebrate with expensive dinners that isn’t always in the cards for everyone. So if going out or buying a new outfit is not an option celebrating at home is a great option, too!
You can put the kids to bed early so you can cook dinner together or order take out. You might have a picnic in your living room, or relax in front of the fire. You can still get dressed up, too.
