Superfoods may seem like a buzz word, but the appeal is the science behind it. A recently released study ranked the top 41 superfoods. #1 on the list: watercress! Read more about the list and the science behind it on Time.
An interesting read on banning laptops from classrooms. While I agree that long form notes are better than laptop notes, and I think there’s some merit to this argument taking away laptops to avoid distractions isn’t going to help. You’d have to ban smartphones, too, and that ship has sailed especially in colleges (and in most high schools).
This Gawker piece references a Wall Street Journal piece which I would link to except they want you to pay for a subscription. Instead this piece covers the nuts and bolts of the WSJ piece with the title, ‘America is Richer than Ever. Just Don’t Tell the Poor.’ A quote from the Gawker piece (quoting WSJ),
“The net worth of U.S. households and nonprofit organizations—the value of homes, stocks and other assets minus debts and other liabilities—rose roughly 2%, or about $1.5 trillion, between January and March to $81.8 trillion, the highest on record, according to a report by the Federal Reserve released Thursday.”
I don’t know that there is an easy answer to this growing divide, but as a member of the shrinking middle class it concerns me, and moreso it concerns me that there is not an easy fix.
